Services for Seafarers

Our mission is to welcome and care for international seafarers who visit the Puget Sound (aka, seafarers on merchant ships). We visit those ships and provide pastoral presence, so crews know they are known and appreciated. We also offer (for a nominal fee) SIM cards for sale and limited personal shopping for basic necessities for those without shore leave.

The Seattle Seafarers Center serves all seafarers, regardless of position, nationality, language, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, ability, gender identity, or sexual orientation.

Crew Transport

We can transport crews in our passenger vans during brief shore leaves for personal shopping and tourist activities.

We are usually available to provide rides to seafarers Monday through Friday, 10:00 to 17:00 in the Seattle area, as well as to Southcenter Mall.

We ask for a donation of $5-10 per person to cover the cost of gas.

Please call or text/WhatsApp us at 206-455-3624 to arrange transportation! Please schedule at least 30 minutes in advance.

During cruise ship season, we also offer low-cost rides to crews to/from cruise ship terminal Pier 91 and downtown.

Crew Shopping and Package Delivery

We also offer limited personal shopping to seafarers for basic personal necessities. This is available when staff and volunteers have capacity to make shopping runs. Crews may also have packages shipped to our Center. We will then deliver them to you when your ship makes its port call in Seattle.

Please see our package delivery and shopping guidelines for more information

Hospitality

Our Center is open to all seafarers, and includes free WiFi, TV, a comfortable area to rest and play games, and a chapel for quiet reflection. We are usually open Monday-Friday 10:00am until 5:00pm. Please call ahead of time if you would like to visit, so we can ensure a staff member is present.

We also have many items available for free at our Center, including warm clothing (hats, scarves, sweaters, etc.), personal toiletries (shampoo, shaving cream, toothpaste, ...), sanitary products for women, books, games, and snacks. You are welcome to visit and take whatever you need! If you cannot visit our Center but are in need of hats or toiletry items, please let us know and we can bring supplies to your ship.
